Kibeho, located in southern Rwanda, is a renowned Catholic pilgrimage site, famous for the Marian apparitions reported by three schoolgirls in 1981–1989. The Virgin Mary, known as "Our Lady of Kibeho," is said to have delivered messages of peace, repentance, and warnings of future violence, which many believe foreshadowed the 1994 Rwandan Genocide. Today, the Shrine of Our Lady of Kibeho attracts thousands of pilgrims, especially on November 28, the anniversary of the first apparition. Visitors can attend Mass, visit the shrine, and learn about the apparitions. Kibeho is accessible via a 3-hour drive from Kigali, and the best time to visit is during religious celebrations or year-round for spiritual reflection.
