Nyungwe Forest National Park, located in southwestern Rwanda, is a biodiversity hotspot known for its pristine rainforest, rich wildlife, and canopy walkway. Covering 1,019 km², it is home to 13 primate species, including chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, and L'Hoest’s monkeys, as well as over 300 bird species and rare orchids. Visitors can enjoy chimpanzee tracking, guided nature hikes, birdwatching, and the famous canopy walkway, which is one of Africa’s longest at 70m high and 160m long. The best time to visit is June–September and December–February for drier conditions. Entry fees start at $100 for chimpanzee tracking. The park is accessible via a 5–6 hour drive from Kigali or flights to Kamembe Airport, followed by a short drive.
