Aldabra Atoll, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Seychelles, is the world’s largest raised coral atoll, covering 155 km². It is famous for its pristine ecosystems, turquoise lagoons, and unique wildlife, including over 150,000 giant Aldabra tortoises—the largest wild population on Earth. The atoll also hosts endemic birds like the Aldabra drongo, coconut crabs, and rich marine life, including sharks and manta rays. Due to its remote location, access is limited to scientific expeditions and guided eco-tours, usually from Mahé or Madagascar. The best time to visit is April–May and October–November. Special permits are required, and there are no hotels on the atoll.
