Covering 6,000 km², the park features dense rainforests, volcanic mountains (Mount Kahuzi and Mount Biega), and diverse wildlife, including forest elephants, leopards, and over 300 bird species. Visitors can enjoy gorilla trekking, hiking, and birdwatching. The best time to visit is June–September (dry season) for easier trekking. Gorilla trekking permits cost around $400–$500, and the park is accessible via a 1.5-hour drive from Bukavu, near Lake Kivu.
