Mount Cameroon, also known as "Mongo ma Ndemi" (Mountain of Greatness), is West Africa’s highest peak at 4,095 meters (13,435 feet). Located in southwestern Cameroon, near Buea, it is an active volcano with its last eruption in 2012. The mountain features lush rainforests, volcanic landscapes, and diverse wildlife, including elephants, chimpanzees, and rare bird species. Hiking to the summit takes 2–3 days, with the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope, an annual endurance race, attracting athletes worldwide. The best time to visit is November–February (dry season) for safer trekking conditions. Entry fees start at $10–$20 per person, and the mountain is accessible via a 1-hour drive from Douala.
