Fish River Canyon, located in southern Namibia, is Africa’s largest canyon and the second-largest in the world, stretching 160 km (99 miles) long, up to 27 km (17 miles) wide, and 550 meters (1,804 feet) deep. Carved by the Fish River, it offers breathtaking landscapes with rugged cliffs, deep gorges, and hot springs. Visitors can enjoy hiking the famous 85 km (53-mile) Fish River Canyon Trail, scenic viewpoints like Hobas Viewpoint, and relaxing at Ai-Ais Hot Springs. The best time to visit is May–September (cooler months), as summer temperatures can be extreme. Entry fees start at $10 per person, and the canyon is accessible via Keetmanshoop Airport or a 7-hour drive from Windhoek.
