Volcanoes National Park, located in northwestern Rwanda, is famous for its mountain gorillas, lush rainforests, and volcanic landscapes. Covering 160 km², it is part of the Virunga Mountains and home to five volcanoes, including Mount Karisimbi and Mount Bisoke. The park offers gorilla trekking, golden monkey tracking, hikes to Dian Fossey’s research site, and volcano climbs. Gorilla trekking permits cost $1,500 per person, and the best time to visit is June–September and December–February during the dry seasons. The park is accessible via a 2-hour drive from Kigali, making it one of the easiest places for a gorilla trekking experience.
